Welcome

My name is Millie Privitera and I’m an artist who specializes in atmospheric, moody, textured drawings. I also design anthropomorphic characters in my free time.

I hope you enjoy your stay at my site!

I graduated from Hathaway Brown in 2017 and I anticipate graduation from the Cleveland Institute of Art in May. Originally I was adopted from Mao-Ming China at eleven months old.

I started drawing seriously when I was in 6th grade. I started by ‘studying’ anime and manga art, with influence from the Warrior Cats book series. I also studied art in classes I took at the Cleveland Museum of art through my middle school years. As I progressed through high school I started experimenting with watercolor and a little acrylic paint, this marked the period in my art where I started taking an academic approach. Subject wise, my art turned from more character based work to more concept driven art.

My inspiration is derived from a huge wonderful cocktail of things. I love seeking inspiration from classical mythology, old mysticism, and most importantly the natural world. Spending time outdoors usually with a sketchbook and a few drawing supplies, I’d use the good feeling of being outdoors with my art and I would become invigorated to create. Something else that inspires me to create art is my own drive to constantly grow my craft and the skills that come with it. Music like

My style is best described as graphite-centric and surreal with technical detail. There is something I find comforting in the striking grey palette I tend to use in my work. The crisp feeling of seeing a sharp white highlight on a darker form is something I strive for in each of my pieces. Though I favor black and white drawings, as of late I have begun digging back into watercolors as I used to enjoy using them in high school along with modeling clay. I have several personal projects in the works such as an online shop, web comic, and dnd campaign artwork.
